• Galaxy 102 originally launched as Kiss 102 in 1994, operated by Faze FM, broadcasting to Manchester and surrounding areas.

• It was an independent dance music station, inspired by the success of Kiss FM London.

• The station was rebranded as Galaxy 102 in 1997, after being acquired by Chrysalis Radio, which also owned Kiss 105 in Yorkshire (which became Galaxy 105).

Expansion & Popularity (1997-2006)

• Galaxy 102 was part of the broader Galaxy Network, which grew to include stations in Yorkshire, Birmingham, the North East, and the South West.

• The station focused on dance, house, R&B, and hip-hop, becoming a favorite among Manchester's youth and club scene.

• Notable presenters included Steve Sutherland, Dave Kelly, and Andi Durrant.
